SOUNIO
In the southern tip of Attica and less than an hour drive from Athens you will find the Temple of Poseidon, that until today emits a special aura that you have never encountered before in an archaeological site. The crystal clear waters, the magnificent view and the tavernas by the sea will make you feel like you are on an island.
NAFPLIO
Τhe city of Nafplio with the Medieval castles, the neoclassical buildings as well as the alleys paved with stone and full of bougainvilleas create a stately beauty. The point of reference is the historic Bourtzi castle, built on the rocky islet of Agios Theodoros. Visitors have the opportunity to visit it by boats that depart daily in front of the port.
EPIDAURUS
Epidaurus is most famous today for the best-preserved ancient Greek theater. In ancient times the patients of Asclepius gathered there to attend theatrical performances as a healing process, while in modern times ancient dramatic performances are staged there every summer. However, Epidaurus offers many more, wonderful beaches surrounded by green pine trees and paths through the ancient ruins, appropriate for hiking.
METEORA
The most impressive characteristic of Meteora is the gigantic, vertical rocks as well as the monasteries standing on these pinnacles. Meteora is also declared by UNESCO as “A Preserved and Protected Monument of Humanity”, and is considered the most important monastic center in Greece, after Aghios Oros.
ANCIENT OLYMPIA
Ancient Olympia is the most famous sacred site of Ancient Greece, and the birthplace of the Olympic Game. The stadium of Olympia where the olympic games took place, the sanctuary of Zeus, the temple of Hera as well as the archaeological museum with the statue of Hermes by Praxiteles are some of the greatest exhibits of the area that are worth visiting.
DELPHI
Facing the sights in Delphi you will definitely feel a divine presence. Here you will find the Temple of Apollon, the famous oracle of ancient Greece, the sanctuary of Athena Pronaia as well as the archaeological museum of the area, which is one of the most significant museums of the country. Τhe famous Delphic landscape with the silver green olive groves will definitely enchant you.
